Planning for the Tall Ships - 21st Feb 2011

Present:
Joe, Freya, Katya...and Chloe Warner!

So, promptly down to business - because we may be few, but we are organised.
Overview of the Tall Ships ideas:

Nord: Travelling across Shetland’s lighthouses
·         Young couple attacked by tirricks (effective yet adorable)
·         Lonely Viking building a galley to flee to Norway that is tragically destroyed by ravages and crazy Shetlanders fuelled by their inherent Up-Helly-Aa instinct.
And the possible locations are...Eshaness, Bressay, Sumburgh, Muckle Flugga (tours to this exotic destination are sadly restricted but we shall get there somehow), Foula, Mousa.
And because Maddrim is cool we think we should acquire a helicopter at some point for AWESOME aerial shots.

Yet we are just not able to forget the lady with the Puffin Appreciation Society  - a future short film will be necessary. Watch this space.

Cutting the locations down to 3 would be more convenient and sensible, so which?
  • Sumburgh for tirrick invasion
  • Bressay for winch chip idea
  • Muckle Flugga for Viking escapades.

Aert: Filming through time

Freya cleverly suggested filming the old-fashioned exteriors of the roofs in Lerwick to later reveal the modern shops below (panning downwards through the layers of buildings). We like this idea!
I mentioned the new-old-fashioned sweet shop at the end of the street. We could take advantage of this, chuck on some effects et viola – Shetland back in time.

Unfortunately we cannot have audio in our films, so communicated the changing time periods will not be able to include radio clips etc.

“HILAROUS” pun:
Hey, did you hear that we don’t have any audio. No pun intended!

...ha.

“Guy walks across America” – an amazing Youtube video of impressive stop motion animation showing  exactly what it says on the tin in a mere 1 min 54! A similar idea to ours only involving much more space (Shetland is, after all, only a pebble in comparison) and much more time.

Enjoy!
Katya x
